Rubies Tech Foundation Bridges the Tech Gap with Free School Tech Tour Initiative

In today’s world, technology is woven into the fabric of our lives. From education to entertainment, it offers a wealth of opportunities. But what about schools that lack the resources to expose their students to the wonders of tech? This is where Rubies Foundation’s impactful School Tech Tour initiative steps in.

This innovative program by Rubies Tech Foundation, an NGO arm of Rubies Technologies is a free service dedicated to bridging the digital divide in education. The tour brings the world of technology directly to schools, particularly those that haven’t yet fully embraced its potential. Through interactive sessions and engaging activities, students gain firsthand experience with various technological tools.

The School Tech Tour doesn’t just showcase gadgets; it demystifies technology.  Students learn the fundamental principles behind how technology works, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation.  This empowers them to use technology effectively, not just as passive consumers, but as active creators and problem-solvers.

In 2021, the RubiesTech School Tech Tour was held across 9 schools in Ibadan (Oyo state), Abule Ijoko (Ogun state), and Oyo (Oyo state). The schools include; Bashorun High School, Bashorun, Ashu junction, Ibadan, Oyo State; Alegongo Grammar School, Alegongo, Akobo, Ibadan; Oke-badan High School, Oke-badan, Oke-offe, Ibadan; Ijokodo Grammar School, off Sango Eleyele road, Ijokodo, Ibadan

Zion Height Model School, Agodongo, Oyo, Oyo State; Fembeat College, Abule Ijoko, Ogun State

De-Angels, Abule Ijoko, Ogun State; Eagerminds, Abule Ijoko, Ogun State and Monidams Lighthouse College, Abule Ijoko, Ogun State

Rubies Tech Foundation recognizes that not all schools have equal access to technology.  The School Tech Tour initiative is a powerful form of social service.  By bringing technology directly to students, Rubies Tech Foundation levels the playing field and ensures that all children have the opportunity to develop the crucial tech skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.

The School Tech Tour goes beyond a one-time visit.  Rubies Technologies often establishes Code Clubs within participating schools.  These ongoing programs provide a platform for students to further explore their interest in technology, fostering a love for coding and innovation.

Rubies Tech Foundation’s School Tech Tour initiative is a shining example of how technology can be a powerful force for good. By empowering students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world, the program is paving the way for a brighter future for all.

In 2024, the School Tech Tour initiative will be taking place in Lagos, Ogun, Ibadan and Ogbomosho and it’s open to the public to nominate any school they want to benefit from the program.
