The need for skilled and empowered female leaders in the tech industry has never been more essential in this era and because there is a gap, it is important to create an avenue to bridge the digital gap.
Recognising this need, the Rubies Tech Foundation organised the Girls Tech Bootcamp ‘24 to equip the next generation of Nigerian girls with robust tech skills. The six-month boot camp which began on the 18th of May, 2024 provides young girls in Lagos, Nigeria, an opportunity to learn Python programming language and Robotics.
The Girls Tech Bootcamp ‘24 is evidence of the power of collective action and the unwavering belief that empowering women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can bring about societal change. By equipping these young minds with the tools and knowledge to thrive in the tech industry, the program is set to inspire a continuous effect that will echo throughout Nigeria and beyond.
At the core of this initiative lies a comprehensive curriculum designed to nurture a deep understanding of Python programming and Robotics. Under the guidance of experienced tutors and mentors, the participants embark on an immersive learning experience, combining theoretical concepts with hands-on projects and real-world case studies. From mastering the fundamentals of coding to designing and programming their robotic systems, the girls are empowered to push the boundaries of what they thought possible.
Moreover, the boot camp goes beyond just imparting technical skills; it also provides a nurturing environment for personal growth and leadership development. Through interactive workshops, networking events, and mentorship opportunities, the participants are encouraged to find their voices, build confidence, and hone their entrepreneurial acumen. This approach ensures that these young women not only emerge as skilled tech professionals but also as innovative problem-solvers and changemakers.
The impact of the Girls Tech Bootcamp ‘24 goes far beyond the limits of the classroom. By cultivating a diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem, the program aims to challenge the traditional gender biases that have long plagued the industry. As the participants complete the boot camp and step into the workforce, they will serve as role models and inspirations for future generations, paving the way for a more equitable and representative technology landscape.
Furthermore, the program’s focus on Robotics has the potential to revolutionize industries and unlock new avenues for economic growth in Nigeria. As the participants utilize the power of automation and intelligent systems, they will be poised to drive innovation, improve efficiency, and create meaningful employment opportunities in a wide range of sectors.
