Rubiestech @5: Bringing Technology To Ijoko Community

Rubies Technologies,(Rubiestech) a social enterprise tech organisation is set to hold a one-week tech Bootcamp at the Ijoko community in Ogun state. The project tagged the Ijoko Project is to train kids and teenagers in technology and digital awareness in commemoration of its 5th year anniversary.

The organisation which officially started in 2017 has a mission to train, equip and empower kids and teenagers in Africa with technological knowledge by exposing them to coding and programming.

For the past 5 years, the organisation has trained over 1000 students and has visited over 20 schools across Nigeria.

Commenting on the tech Bootcamp, the founder, Rubiestech, Afape Temiloluwa, said the Ijoko Project is an idea to give back to the society and make more children fall in love with tech. “What we do in my organisation is training kids and teenagers how to code, training them how to build websites, robots and creating games that can be used on mobile and desktop devices, that is what we do. As a give back for our 5th year anniversary, we have decided to hold that program at Ijoko”.

She added that Ijoko was chosen after considering many factors.” We discovered that Ijoko children have less access to technology and other devices, though they are not the only one, but they are the fortunate ones that we want to make benefit from this project”.

She also called for donations and support for the program as it involves lots of expenses and human resources. “We call on individuals, organisations to donate towards this project by visiting our website www.rubiestech.org/ijoko
